5 Habits That Will Boost Your GPA

It's Spring semester or the end half of your universities quarters and your struggling with your GPA. Don't worry, you are not alone, and I am here to save you. Improve your grades and increase your GPA by committing to these five daily grade-boosting habits that helped me kick ass in my college classes.

Plan out your day

If it’s early in the morning, or the last thing you do before bed, make your plan for the day ahead of you. Making small commitments to yourself will be a sure way to get things done. Create a checklist of all the things you need to accomplish. From printing out your study guide, buying a new bundle of notecards to checking your emails, if you have a set plan you will instantly feel more prepared. Being more prepared leads to being more effective throughout your day of classes, more productivity in classes, better the grades. #Science

Talk about it

This one really helped me out when it came to content on exams. I made it a point to talk about what I was learning in my classes with my roommates and friends. Reciting the content you just learned and making sense of it all out loud really helped me retain more information. Try it and let me know how it works out for you in a comment below!

Read Your Notes Daily

Increase your grades by sitting down and highlighting small sections of your notes throughout the week, but do it daily. Going over small bits of content each day allows you a chance to really understand vocab words or break down and understand an entire concept. Breaking it up, is way more effective than cramming all that information into a small portion of time and hoping you understand it. Realistically, you are paying a shit ton of money to take the course, might as well take all the knowledge you can out it, and any pencil you find on the ground. #TheStruggleIsReal

Study earlier

Eliminate the stress! Don’t wait last minute to open up your course book. There's no point in doing that to yourself. Trust me. I’m not a fan of pulling all nighters, and personally when I do that, I walk into the classroom feeling overwhelmed and shaking with my notecards in my hands, trying to memorize everything I possibly can. That’s a big no-no. Get organized, break out your planner and begin filling in important dates. Even writing what chapters you should be focused on each week of the semester will be a simple reminder that studying is just as important as a project due date. See the importance of studying then you’ll see your GPA rise. *Yoda voice.

Ask Questions

From asking questions about the content in class, setting up a meeting with your professor to go over confusing notes, or setting up a coffee date with a student that’s taken the course and has been in your shoes… putting yourself out there will allow you to better feel calm and collective about your next test or exam. It will feel like you have all the answers. So don’t be shy, raise your hand and get that A!

There you have it! Commit to doing yourself a favor by changing the way you approach your day to day studying and classroom habits. Do these things and you may be the next valedictorian! Whoop Whoop.
