Hi again! Skylar here, one of College Hill's marketing interns! This week I got to interview one of our College Hill brand representatives, McKenzie! We talked about her experience and her favorite parts about being a CH rep, so keep on reading to learn more!
S: How did you initially hear about the College Hill Rep Program?
M: I initially heard about the rep program through social media during my first semester at Washington State University. I was a new freshman and was looking for ways to get involved, so I thought, "why not?" and I applied!
I was interested in it because I am an apparel merchandising major and it seemed like a perfect opportunity to get to work with clients helping design apparel, yet also working on the organization/business side of the process, too!
S: What do you like the most about being a part of the program?
M: What I like the most is helping people put their ideas on to apparel or other types of merchandise. I think it is so rewarding to help them come up with ideas and then see how excited they are when they get a design back that they love.
S: What clients do you work with specifically throughout the year?
M: Most of the clients I have worked with have been sororities on campus for their sisterhoods, philanthropies, date dashes, etc. These are fun because they are usually trying to come up with trendy, yet unique designs. I have also worked a little bit with businesses and their employee uniform attire!
S: What are your professional goals post-graduation? How has the CH brand rep program helped to prepare you for the professional world?
M: My professional goal after graduation is to become a fashion buyer. The brand rep program has helped me with this because I have practiced networking a lot, I keep my orders organized, and I help clients fulfill their orders by analyzing how many products they need or if it is a pop-up shop, how many we think will sell. Every time I do an order, I gain more experience and it has been something so fun yet helpful for my future career.
