Fundraising with College Hill Ft. the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Scott Firefighter Stairclimb
Written by - March 15, 2018
College Hill is a proud supporter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). College Hill has been involved in LLS events such as Winter Pineapple Classic and Scott Firefighter Stairclimb in custom merchandise and fundraising efforts over the past four years.
LLS is the world’s largest voluntary health organization, dedicated to funding education, research and patient services and driven by a powerful mission to cure blood cancer. Since its inception, LLS has awarded over a billion dollars to research. Locally, the organization funds researchers at Fred Hutch and the UW Medical Center.
Our Involvement with LLS Events
Most recently, College Hill not only created custom gear for LLS’s promotion of Scott Firefighter Stairclimb including giveaway shirts and promo products etc., but we also fundraised for individual teams by creating their custom team shirts for day of wear.
Through College Hill’s giving back program, if your organization or business has a dedicated cause 10% of every order that directly supports a philanthropic event or mission will be donated back to that charity on your behalf. It was truly a pleasure to collaborate with those teams in creating custom gear as well as fundraising for their teams contributions to the stairclimb.
The Scott Firefighter Stairclimb is the world's largest on-air stairclimb competition. This consistently sold-out event is the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's annual fundraiser open solely to firefighters who must compete in full structural turnout gear while on-air. Completing the climb is a physical triumph in itself, but it is also symbolic of, yet pales in comparison to, the strenuous journey that all cancer patients endure. As firefighters race to the top of the tower, they keep in mind that every step forward is representative of moving toward finding a cure for all those battling a blood cancer.
We wanted to acknowledge and congratulate a new client of ours the City of Pullman Fire Department and Firefighter Steve Potratz-Lee. Potratz-Lee won the Scott Stairclimb over the weekend in downtown Seattle. The competition required the firefighters to carry 50 pounds of gear to the top of the building while breathing through their air mask. Potratz-Lee completed the climb in 10:55, beating over 15 hundred firefighters from around the world who competed last Saturday.
Not to brag, but he was wearing College Hill Custom Threads when crossing the finish line.
The money raised through sponsorships, individual and department fundraising, and entry fees directly supports the mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. To date, LLS has invested over $1 billion to develop cancer therapies and advance the production and application of many drug treatments.
Our College Hill team is grateful to be working with such amazing clients supporting such an amazing cause.
