GUEST BLOGGER: HAYLEE GECAS, COLLEGE HILL MARKETING INTERN + STUDENT AT WASHINGTON STATE UNIVERSITY, PULLMAN, WA
Are you staying in Pullman for spring break next week? Are you having a hard time figuring out what there is to do? Take it from a local - I know that Pullman can sometimes be boring, but we can still make the most out of spring break with what Pullman has to offer! Grab some friends, or make new ones, by trying out some of these adventure ideas!
1. Kamiak Butte
If you are someone who enjoys the outdoors, the Palouse is the place to check out some new trails. Kamiak Butte has a few different trails to explore depending on what you’re interested in. The most common one is the Pine Ridge trail, which is a 3.5-mile loop. There are views along any trail you are going on and it's perfect in the spring! Growing up, my family and I would go to Kamiak and bring a picnic to enjoy after making it to the summit. If you are interested in finding more trails in the area, visit AllTrails online or download their app on the app store!
2. Sunnyside Park
Sunnyside offers a lot of different activities. You can feed the ducks by the pond, play tennis, look at the animal farm, play frisbee golf or take a loop on their trail. Sunnyside is nice if you’re looking for a relaxing day outside.
3. Wawawai
You might have spent a nice warm day down at the Cliffs, but have you explored the area? There’s so much more you can do! You can walk on Wawawai Canyon or on the railroad tracks. Bring some food and enjoy their covered area for a potluck with your friends!
4. Golf Simulators
If you want to have some fun playing mini golf but want to stay inside, Airway Hills has golf simulators you and your friends can rent out. You can choose from over 80 different courses around the world and play 9, 18 or more holes! For more information, take a look at their website.
Pullman Fire Department has started a new way for you to experience what it’s like to go on calls. You can hang out with them at the station and when they get a call, you can join them! If you’re interested or have questions, call 509-332-8172.
6. WSU Sporting Events
Just because it’s spring break doesn’t mean our Cougar athletes aren’t still working hard! Support them by going to some of these events:
7. Etsi Bravo Comedy Night
If you need a laugh, on Monday, March 16, you can go to Etsi Bravo and see Luke Severeid! Enjoy food and drinks while having a good time with your friends. The show starts at 8 and seats are limited - first come, first served, so get there early. Don’t worry about paying to get in because there’s no cover charge - you just have to be 21+! Etsi Bravo is at 215 E Main St, Pullman.
8. Explore A Ghost Town – Elberton
Did you know there was a ghost town so close to Pullman? If you’re up for the adventure, Elberton is perfect for you! Elberton was named after the son of Sylvester M. Wait, Elbert. In 1888, the town started to grow with a flour mill, post office, two general stores, a grain warehouse and a church. In 1900, the population reached about 400, but after a fire and a flood, people moved away. Now there are only about 15 people that live in the area. When you go, you might still see the church, cemetery, railroad trestle and bridge. Awesome photo opps await.
9. Escape Room
PuzzleIQ in nearby Moscow, Idaho has fun escape rooms for you and your friends. The rooms are public, so if your group doesn’t have at least 4 people, you might meet some new people! If you are someone who likes to get scared, they have the perfect room for you! You start handcuffed to a chain while the "killer" is watching you… seems a little like Saw! If that doesn’t sound like you, they have less scary rooms that allow you and your friends to work together! For more information, check out their website!
10. Spring Valley Reservoir
If you want to take a drive a little past Moscow and see some of the towns surrounding Pullman, you can see this on the drive to Spring Valley. Spring Valley is a good place to visit any season. In the winter, the water freezes over and you can walk on it! During the spring, you can walk the loop around the water and possibly catch some fish!
