Spotlight: Chinook Fest 2020
Written by - September 18, 2020
For a new blog series, we're spotlighting various clients, collaborations and brands we have worked with, and the designs we have been able to create with them!
For this week, we are spotlighting Chinook Fest - an annual music festival where you can listen to Roots Rock, Americana and Outlaw Country music!
Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, this year's Chinook Fest had to look a bit different. However, the team behind Chinook Fest was able to pull off a full virtual festival for all to enjoy!
Skylar Schmidt, one of our marketing interns, got to chat with Dawn Gardner, Chinook Fest Talent Buyer and Operations Manager, more about the virtual concert and about how their concept design process went with the College Hill team!
"Creating a virtual event was new territory for us, but not completely foreign, she said. "We have a talented and experienced team that stepped up and delivered."
"At the end of the day, it was still an event that featured live music, partnerships with local businesses and served as a platform for connecting people."
Concept Design
For this year's Chinook Fest, the design process was no different from years past. In the beginning, Dawn and our team worked out several ideas that went with their "overall vibe." From there, they narrowed down to a couple that best matched the theme for their event.
This year, the final t-shirt design was the Sasquatch wearing headphones and carrying a laptop with backwoods scenery, which completely embodies the Pacific Northwest.
"This design was central to our brand with the concept of a virtual event," she said.
client growth
As a local music festival, Chinook Fest has been able to grow immensely over the last couple years.
"We are a small, grassroots event," she said. "This serves us in keeping people coming back year after year. We've averaged about a 15% growth in attendance these last few years."
College hill Relationship
College Hill and Chinook Fest have been able to have a long-standing relationship over the years. Chinook Fest co-founder Cody Beebe has a great working relationship with College Hill's president and vice president, who were both instrumental in helping Chinook Fest for years, said Dawn.
"College Hill has developed a strong understanding of our brand," she said. "They have been supportive of the unique nature of our small festival and have consistently delivered every order and small request."
